PART 2: INTERIORS

Other than the excitement of reading my new post how are you doing this blessed day? Yesterday in Part 1 of the Time traveling design: From the 50’s to the 16, I looked at the how the Pantone colours of the year are reminiscent of the 1950’s ice cream/bubblegum colours.

That got me thinking of what other design elements are popular now that were at their peak in the 50s. Here is a quick post that looks at 4 major elements that can help us travel back in time.

PART 1: COLOURS

Welcome to the first ‘episode’ in a series that will look at how design has been reinvented in our modern times.

Now a couple of weeks ago I posted my first blog of the year and talked, more like ranted, about the Pantone colours of the year. Have a look HERE at the mental and emotional anguish I had with a accepting ROSE QUARTZ and SERENITY.

YES YOU ARE!!!

I’m sure you’re wondering where this is coming from. Well, if you follow me on Instagram (@theinteriordecorator) you’ll know that there was a point during the week when I got all obsessed with RED.

It all begun when I was took my friend Pam sofa shopping. After a long search she finally fell in love with one, but her only problem was that it was red. Don’t get me wrong, she loved the fact that it was red, she just couldn’t see how she could have a red sofa.

“Seriously Jordan how am I meant to style my home around a red sofa? It would be so conspicuous! bla bla bla”

From the feedback I got from the sales girl Pam’s sediments were actually very common. That’s why they hadn’t been able to sell the sofa so far.

So I thought why not show any of you naysayers how BEAUTIFUL, COZY, FUN  yet SOPHISTICATED a red sofa can make a home look. And yes, it is very possible to do this regardless of your home’s theme. Don”t believe me? Well, have a look at these 5 different themes I have created all using a red sofa. Read More
