THE LOUIS GHOST CHAIR

Its Monday!

Now that I’m stating the obvious I guess its safe to also state that with the Monday blues and all, you’d rather look at beautiful interiors than read a lot of decor tips and advice from ‘moi’.

Before I lavish you with images of breathtaking interiors let me give you a brief preview of the images….be patient with me my dears.

During the weekend I stumbled on these brilliant LOUIS GHOST CHAIRS at ODDS AND ENDS KENYA  going for 8,500/- each. I think these modern pieces are a brilliant addition to any dining or office area. Seeing that I’m currently working on a scheme for a client I’m determined to use them in her space because she has a lot of natural light and they’ll work perfectly.

Here are a couple of ways you could style these pieces in your home:

On the last episode of ‘the interior decorator’ we had a look at WABI SABI: THE TALE OF IMPERFECTION. In it a kinky haired girl/woman/lady revealed her love for imperfection in spaces. If you haven’t read the post yet then you’re not getting any spoilers here, just click onto the link and it will all be revealed to you.

Okay, enough about the past and onto the present. Today’s post is a restaurant inspiration post inspired by the WABI SABI style. After reading my last post one of my friend’s had the audacity to tell me that this is not a trend that Kenyans could appreciate. Well my friend (you know yourself!) this post shall prove you oh so wrong.

Presenting my favourite restaurant of all time.

WABI SABI: THE TALE OF IMPERFECTION

Many years ago a baby girl was born on a calm August morning in Nairobi Kenya. The little girl grew up with kinky, annoying, hair and a love for all things different.  When she was grown enough for society to consider her an adult, she moved out of her parent’s home and went to experience the big bad world all on her own.

One of the things she had to fend for herself  was Shelter, so armed with her new found maturity she went forth and rented a cozy space and made it her own. How she turned this space into a home is the moral for this tale.

Unlike most people she knew, this girl, lets call her Jordan although you might know her as ‘theinteriordecorator’, opted to be more adventurous with her furniture by selecting items that didn’t necessarily match and that had a history. She had her late grandfather’s armchair, paired with a leather wingback chair she got from a thrift store and worked both of them with a sofa bed that was one of her first adult purchases. So whereas she had only seen people buying furniture as sets she decided to offer herself a visual story rather than perfection.

VILLA ROSA KEMPINSKI: HEAD OVER HEELS

Hey my dears. How’ve you been since we last talked (or I should I say since I wrote and you read)? Well, I had a pretty good week, I was mostly busy because I had a bit of traveling to do for work, but my highlight was definitely the weekend when I got to celebrate mother dearest’s birthday. It honestly amazes me how much I love that woman, she’s not only my mother but my best friend and any reason to celebrate her is definitely worth it.As blessings go I hit the jackpot when it comes to my mum.

I’ve gone off on a tangent again. Jordan…focus!

So speaking of the weekend, last weekend I got to attend the DIVAlicious event at the Villa Rosa Kempinski. This got me thinking about how this classic hotel is surprisingly on trend. If you follow me on Instagram you would know that the perfect example of this is with their use of one of Pantone’s 2016 colours of the year, Rose quartz, on their exterior.
